paint colors in our home

sometimes, picking the right paint color can be hard. sometimes i struggle with it. but i also know that if i have too many choices, i also will struggle. so usually once i know what color i want, i pick one and commit to it. and then if i don’t like that color, i pick a new one. but rarely has that happened. i also love making a mood board on canva to keep all my colors in one place so i can see them all together. this also helps me keep it all consistent when adding a new color. different rooms can be different colors, but you generally don’t want too many different colors. i like to stick with more muted, earthy tones, but each room still looks different than the next. you can also repeat the same color in you home and that also helps with consistency! i used the same green on our playhouse as i did the dining room bead board. questions or need help? send me a message!

when using paint, there are different sheens, meaning different glossiness or shininess to paint. this matters where/what you are painting.

flat- very hard to clean, so best for ceilings to hide imperfections and walls if you like to repaint often lol. it has absolutely no shine to it, matte

eggshell- my go to for walls! has a little more shine than flat but doesn’t reflect light. easier to wipe down. best used on walls or ceilings if you have full faith in your drywaller

satin- best for high use things, like cabinetry, trim, baseboards and doors. satin is a little glossier than eggshell but holds up so much better to heavy use.

semi-gloss- much glossier, in the name and is also used for cabinetry, doors, trim, baseboards and even walls in bathrooms and kitchens.

high-gloss- not very common, hard to use and usually takes a professional to make it look seamless. I have personally never used this sheen

hopefully this helps you! happy painting friends!
